In addition to assessment of the DGP by the Shire of Busselton, the Environmental Protection Authority's assessment of the Smiths Beach development proposal was advertised for public comment for eight weeks from 27 August 2007 to 22 October 2007.  A total of 53 submissions were made of which 27 were in favour of the development.  The remainder raised issues of concern that the developer is responding to as part of the EPA assessment process. 

 

The EPA assessment of the proposal and the submissions is likely to be concluded in August 2008.
